Charachter Analysis

William: lawyer convicted of murder

1. Charming: in order to lure Hannah in and make her obession and fondness for him grow depper and stronger
2. Vulnerable: when writing letters  to Hannah that talk about his early childhood and family trauma
3. Loyal: to those who he can begin to trust with his secrets

Hannah: true crime addict

1. Directionless: after losing her job, she doesn’t know where to go, but she follows the trail to Georgia to sit and watch Williams murder trial unfold
2. Obsessed: with true crime itself, but ends up taking a particular liking to the case of four missing women in Atlanta.
3. Cautious, yet curious: Hannah realizes the danger William puts her in, but it’s like the girls always say—I can fix him (even if he’s a serial killer?)

Memorable Quotes

"I wondered if William was building some sort of murder cave or planned to brick me inside of our home like the villain in an Edgar Allan Poe story" (Coryell 277).

*we love when authors reference classics in their books, especially when its Poe
