Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Plot: Kayla, recently widowed begins a sultry correspondece with a man named Dante shortly after her husbands funeral. While recieving these letters, she also begins an intense relationship with her neighbor Aiden, who helps drive the plot of the story, leading to an intense revelation about her reality—a plot twist that plot twists so hard, as a writer I wish I wrote it.

Tropes: Epistolary romance, paranormal suspense, and unputtdownable smut

Thoughts: Damn I loved this book. First of all if a book contains some sort of letters in its prose, I will definitely be reading it because as a writer, I think its such a cool and unique way to tell a plot. This book contains letters seemingly written by a man named Dante in prison who is infatuated with Kayla—he claims to know her and tells her he will wait forever if he has to…

Plot twist—spoiler alert for the book, so don’t read further if you haven’t finished it yet. Dante is actually Aiden who throughout the entire book is trying to tell Kayla about her own death—that she is a ghost now because she was killed by her boyfriend. Insane. When this was revealed the entire plot just made sense and everything clicked into place. Lots of things seem eerie when reading, like the housekeeper of the property where Kayla seemingly lived wondering what she was doing there or she was communicating with. Kayla also hears strange noises in the house, even consulting her housekeeper to perform a seance thinking her home is haunted—little did she know she was the one who was haunted.

Overall, I really loved the obsessive love story between these two characters. It’s hard to write a review for this one without spoiling the plot, but as a girl who is new to the dark romance/paranormal drama, I would definitely recommend this one.
